چکیده

We report the case of a 63-year-old man with severe hypercalcemia, acute kidney injury, and concomitant diagnosis germinal center diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (nHL). Hypercalcemia is common finding in patients cancer. Multiple mechanisms can lead to hypercalcemia malignancy, different malignancies are often associated specific mechanism hypercalcemia. Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) excessive production 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D independently (and rarely, concomitantly) development variety malignancies. Literature review related PTHrP co-secretion shows that most reported cases solid tumors responded tumor directed therapy. Our nHL was increased making this an unusual presentation.

Central Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Case Report

Introduction: Central mucoepidermoid carcinoma (CMEC) is a rare primary intraosseous bony lesion. The mandible is more commonly affected than the maxilla. CMEC is frequently misdiagnosed radiographically and clinically as a benign odontogenic tumor or cyst. Case Presentation: We present a rare case with a secondary malignant neoplasm. A male patient was initially diagnosed with B-cell non-Hodg...

Parathyroid Hormone-Related Peptide and Malignancy

Parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) was originally isolated as a causal factor for hypercalcemia of malignancy (HM), one of the most frequent paraneoplastic syndromes. The association of hypercalcemia with malignancy was originally assumed to be the result of tumor invasion of bone with resultant osteolysis (1,2), but subsequent studies demonstrated an association of hypercalcemia with ...

Richter's Syndrome with Hypercalcemia Induced by Tumor-Associated Production of Parathyroid Hormone-Related Peptide

Humoral hypercalcemia due to parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) elevation is a well-known complication of various malignancies, but the situation is rare concerning hematological malignancies except for adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma. We report a case of Richter's syndrome with humoral hypercalcemia, and demonstrate by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) that perip...

Hodgkin Lymphoma and Anaplastic Variants of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Background and Objectives: Classic Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL), anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) and some cases of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) have overlapping morphologic features. Since they all represent distinct clinico-pathologic entities, we explored the differential diagnostic impact of immunophenotyping to discriminate between them. Materials and Methods:...

Humoral Hypercalcemia of Malignancy with a Parathyroid Hormone-Related Peptide-Secreting Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma Accompanied by a Gastric Cancer

Humoral hypercalcemia of malignancy (HHM) is caused by the oversecretion of parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) from malignant tumors. Although any tumor may cause HHM, that induced by intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) or gastric cancer (GC) is rare. We report here a 74-year-old male who displayed HHM with both ICC and GC and showed an elevated serum PTHrP level. Treatment of the hy...
